A case has been registered against BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, following a complaint accusing him of making false allegations regarding a scam in the Musi River rejuvenation project, reported PTI.

The complaint, lodged by a Congress leader, claims that Rama Rao wrongfully implicated Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress party in the alleged misuse of project funds.

The FIR, filed at the Utnoor police station on October 14, includes charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), notably Section 352, which pertains to intentional insult aimed at provoking a breach of peace, according to police sources.

The allegations stem from Rama Rao’s public statements made on September 30, where he claimed that the Telangana government, led by the Congress, had spent Rs 1.5 lakh crore on the Musi River rejuvenation project, calling it a “scam.” The complainant, however, asserts that the BRS leader’s statements were baseless and made without any supporting evidence.

Police confirmed that after conducting a preliminary enquiry, a case was formally registered and an investigation is underway. Further updates are expected as the inquiry progresses.
