50 dead in rain-related incidents across Pakistan
Severe rains in Pakistan have killed 50 people and injured 87 other while causing damage to the residential properties over the last several days, a PTI report said. The pre-monsoon rains began in the end of June across the country which resulted in floods in Balochistan province. Punjab is Pakistan’s largest province has been badly hit with the rain killing 34 people in rain-related incidents, followed by 10 deaths in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and five in flood-hit Balochistan.
Rahul Gandhi move top court, says senior Congress leader
Gujarat High Court upholds Sessions Court’s order denying stay on conviction of Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case against ‘Modi surname’ remark. Rahul Gandhi will not be able to contest elections or seek revocation of the suspension of his status as a Member of Parliament (MP). AICC’s KC Venugopal says that Gandhi will now appeal the Supreme Court. In its order, the Gujarat High Court said that the Trial Court conviction order is proper, there is no need to interfere with the said order. Therefore, the application is dismissed. The Court further noted that at least 10 criminal cases are pending against Rahul Gandhi. (ANI)
