Delhi court on Friday extended till November 24 the judicial custody of AAP leader Sanjay Singh, arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise scam. Special Judge M K Nagpal also allowed Singh to sign some documents related to development work as a Member of Parliament.

DU advances winter break from November 13-19

The Delhi University has declared an early winter break from November 13-19 in view of the air pollution in the national capital, according to an official notification released on Friday. The winter break, which is usually given in December, has been revised keeping in mind the GRAP-IV measures being implemented amid the prevailing air pollution in Delhi. All colleges and institutes of the university have been asked to declare the winter break.

Putin meets military top brass to discuss Ukraine war

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday discussed the war in Ukraine with his military top brass including Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and General Staff Valery Gerasimov, chief of the general staff. Pictures released by the Kremlin showed Putin at meeting with Shoigu, Gerasimov and General Sergei Rudskoy, head of the General Staff’s Main Operational Directorate, at the southern military grouping’s headquarters in Rostov. Devotees take dip at Ganga, Yamuna on Dhanteras

Thousands of people took a dip at the confluence of the holy Ganga and Yamuna praying for good health and fortune on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. Dhanvantari Jayantim, which is being observed on Friday, marks the first day of Diwali in most parts of the country. It is believed that the grace of Lord Dhanvantari cures mankind of afflictions.

Media workers stage sit-in at New York Times headquarters to call for cease-fire

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators occupied the lobby of The New York Times on Thursday, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza while accusing the media of showing a bias toward Israel in its coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the publication’s Manhattan headquarters. Many entered the building’s atrium for a sit-in and vigil that lasted more than an hour.Led by a group of media workers calling themselves “Writers Bloc,” demonstrators read off the names of thousands of Palestinians killed in Gaza, including at least 36 journalists whose deaths have been confirmed since the war began. Sudden rain in Delhi, still remains under ‘severe’ category as per CPCB

Parts of Delhi recieved rain at Friday midnight but according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) the overall air quality in the national capital continued to remain in the ‘severe’ category on Friday morning. However, slight decline in AQI at some places was recorded after moderate rainfall lashed the city in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
