Delhi Red Fort Car Blast highlights: Delhi Red Fort blast: At least 13 were killed and several were injured in a blast in a “slow-moving” Hyundai i20 car in Old Delhi. The blast took place outside Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station at 6:52 pm, minutes after the car exited the parking lot near Red Fort. The blast has shaken the entire nation, and an investigation into the case is underway.

According to a source-based report by ANI, the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort was not a suicide attack but was triggered by a suspect in panic. The suspect did not follow the usual pattern – he neither rammed the car into a target nor collided with it intentionally. The report further said that the bomb was premature and wasn’t fully developed, meaning that the IED was not equipped to cause heavy casualties.

PM Modi called the blast a “conspiracy” and added that those behind the blast would not be spared. “Today, I come here with a very heavy heart. The horrific incident that took place in Delhi yesterday evening has deeply saddened everyone. I understand the grief of the affected families. The entire nation stands with them today,” PM Modi, who left for Bhutan, said.

He added, “I was in touch with all the agencies investigating this incident throughout last night. Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice.”

Home Minister Amit Shah, who is “pained beyond words”, held a review meeting on the car blast yesterday and directed the officials to “hunt down” the culprits behind the incident. “Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies,” he said on X (formerly Twitter), following the review meeting.

Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh too assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. “I want to firmly assure the nation that those responsible for this tragedy will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances,” he said during an event.

Delhi Police has registered a case under the UAPA and the Explosives Act in connection with the blast near Red Fort. Following the incident, the national capital has been placed on high alert.
