BJP leader Smriti Irani alleged on Sunday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was collecting personal data of women voters under the guise of its ‘Mahila Samman Yojana.’ Addressing rallies in Okhla and Rohini, Irani urged people to vote for the BJP’s candidates in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5.

Irani claimed that AAP workers were gathering sensitive information, such as addresses, phone numbers, and family details, from women voters as part of the registration process for the Yojana, which offers Rs 2,100 to women. She called this data collection a “security threat” to women, suggesting it could be misused by unscrupulous individuals.

“Recently, AAP workers have been collecting personal details from women under the pretext of enrolling them for the Mahila Samman Yojana. This sensitive information could end up in the wrong hands, such as scrap dealers or liquor shops, putting women’s security at risk,” Irani said.

Irani also criticised the Delhi government for its failure to deliver on promises made to residents, particularly on issues like clean drinking water and quality healthcare, which were central to AAP’s election platform.

“AAP promised the people of Delhi clean water and better healthcare, but these commitments have not been fulfilled,” Irani said. “The people of Delhi deserve better, and it’s time for a change.”

The BJP leader outlined several welfare measures proposed by her party, including a monthly financial grant of Rs 2,500 for women, Rs 21,000 for pregnant women, and Rs 500 for cooking gas cylinders. She emphasised that these promises were not just slogans but a concrete plan for a better future for Delhi’s families.

Irani also took a dig at AAP, asserting that while the BJP has consistently delivered on its promises, the ruling party in Delhi has failed to do the same.

Voting in Delhi’s Assembly elections will take place on February 5, with the results to be announced on February 8.
