Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated a campaign dubbed “Operation Jhaadu” aimed at quashing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), seeing it as a formidable challenge.

Addressing party members ahead of the AAP’s planned protest march to the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Kejriwal said the likelihood of encountering greater obstacles in the future and urged the cadre to brace themselves.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is worried about the rise of the AAP. The party has risen too fast. They have started ‘Operation Jhaadu’ to crush the party. In the coming time, our bank accounts will be frozen and we will be brought on the road since our office will also be taken away,” he said.

“We have weathered numerous challenges in the past, sustained by the blessings of Lord Hanuman and divine providence. Let us persevere on the path of truth and our commitment to societal welfare,” he added.

The AAP national convenor said, “The remarkable strides we’ve made in transforming Delhi and Punjab are unparalleled.”

“From the development of government schools to ensuring quality education for children, and the initiation of free electricity services, our track record speaks volumes. Modi’s inability to replicate such initiatives has seemingly fueled his desire to apprehend us. AAP has transcended beyond a mere political entity; it embodies an ideology. While they may detain our leaders, they cannot suppress our ideas,” he added.

Kejriwal, currently on interim bail in connection with an excise policy case, announced on Saturday that he and fellow AAP leaders would march to the BJP headquarters on May 19 “to confront the prime minister and any repercussions he deems fit”.

“We intend to peacefully proceed to the BJP headquarters, and if impeded by law enforcement, we will stage a sit-in. Should they opt not to arrest us, it will be considered their defeat. Whether we are detained or not, our party’s resilience will only grow stronger,” Kejriwal affirmed.

Reflecting on his stint in Tihar Jail, Kejriwal shared that he had immersed himself in reading the Bhagavad Gita twice and the Ramayana once.
