The BJP on Friday appointed the central observers for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh even as the suspense around the names of new Chief Ministers in these states continues. According to the party, Asha Lakheda, Dr K Laxman, ML Khattar will be the observers for Madhya Pradesh. For Rajasthan, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey have been given the observer role.

Meanwhile, for Chhattisgarh, Sarbananda Sonowal and Arjun Munda will be the central observers. The development comes as the wait continues for the appointment of the CMs of the Hindi heartland states after BJP’s thumping win in the recently-held Assembly Elections.

The appointment of observers shows that the BJP’s central command wants the state leaders to arrive for an agreement on the name of Chief Ministers in these three states. Rajnath Singh’s appointment as Rajasthan observer is being seen as an attempt by the BJP to solve the Vasundhara Raje puzzle.

The BJP went for Prime Minister Modi as the party’s prominent face during the Assembly Elections. Even in Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan was not positioned as the chief ministerial candidate. This strategic move proved sufficient to propel BJP candidates ahead of the competing Congress in a majority of constituencies.
