In a confrontation between BJP and Shiv Sena (UBT) members on August 26 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, police called on the lathi charge to curb the situation. The confrontation happened between the two parties when BJP members were protesting against Aditya Thackeray’s visit to the city.

A fight broke out between the members of BJP and Shivsena (UBT) in front of the Rama Hotel where Aditya Thackery was staying. The police had to call on a mild lathi charge to bring the situation under control. He has come on a 2-day tour in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Aditya Thackeray has been actively campaigning for the Maharashtra General Assembly elections. On Monday he visited Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Earlier the Shiv Sena (UBT) member and Aditya Thackery supporters had protested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Maharashtra’s Aurangabad. BJP workers responded in the same manner along with the loud sloganeering. Shiv Sena members retaliated with the same force which led to a scuffle.

Upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Election Contestants

In the recent 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Aditya Thackery suffered a narrow loss margin of just 48 votes against Shiv Sena’s Ravinder Waikar from the Mumbai North West constituency. Maharashtra assembly elections will fought over 288 constituencies. However, the date has not been announced by the Election Commission.

The upcoming elections in Maharashtra will be between Maha Yuti Alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), and the Maha Vikas Aghadi comprising of the UBT Shiv Sena, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).

The recent Lok Sabha Election has boosted the morale of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, with the Shiv Sena (UBT) winning nine seats, the Congress 13, and the NCP-SP winning eight, bringing the total tally of the alliance to 30. On the contrary, the Mahayuti alliance suffered a major blow with BJP winning only nine seats, Shiv Sena winning seven and NCP folded with one seat, bringing the total tally of alliance to 17.
