Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the sixth Ramnath Goenka lecture on Monday evening — issuing a sharp warning for political leaders across the spectrum. He cited the recent Bihar Assembly elections to underscore his point and noted that there was a major lesson to be learned from the outcome. The National Democratic Alliance had secured a landslide victory with 202 seats during the recent contest.
“From this platform today, I want to send a message to all state governments — irrespective of ideology — the Bihar verdict makes one thing clear: the kind of government you run today will decide your political future,” Modi warned.
He also urged political parties to focus on development and “compete” for progress and better infrastructure in their states. The PM noted that voters were now casting their ballots on the basis of work undertaken by political leaders — insisting that it was the work of the government to improve the lives of people
“Opposition says PM Modi and BJP are over the Election board 24X7..but to win the election, one needs to be in election mode 24X7…Govt always strives for the betterment of society, and it reflects in the election results,” he added.
‘In states like Kerala, West Bengal and…’
The Prime Minister also touched upon Opposition-led West Bengal and Kerala during his address — highlighting the extensive efforts of BJP party workers. Modi also referenced recalled being told about how Ramnath Goenka had received the Jan Sangh ticket from Vidisha during his address.
“Friends, lakhs of BJP workers have nurtured the party with their sweat, and in many states like Kerala, West Bengal, and Jammu and Kashmir, even with their blood. For such a party, winning elections is not the only goal, serving people and winning their hearts is equally important,” said PM Modi.
