The Bihar government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sanctioned 10 per cent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in both judicial services and state-run law colleges and universities. This announcement after the release of the initial data from Bihar’s caste survey on October 2.
As per PTI, the decision to provide this reservation was made during a cabinet meeting. “The cabinet approved amendments in the guidelines of the State Judicial Services, 1951, allowing 10% reservation for EWS category in judicial services and also in state-run law institutes and universities,” Additional chief secretary (cabinet) S Siddhartha said.

A detailed notification for the implementation of this reservation will be issued by the concerned department soon.
The state cabinet has also given the green light for the construction of 100 veterinary hospitals across the state, with training centres to be included at each hospital. Siddhartha stated, “A total of 100 first-class veterinary hospitals will be constructed in different districts of the state, and Rs 225 crore will be spent in 17 districts for this purpose,” as reported by PTI.
Additionally, the state cabinet approved the addition of 30 clerk positions to handle matters related to the Consumers Affairs Department, according to Siddhartha.
