The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday termed the Swabhiman Rally organised by the Mahagatbhandan alliance of the Janata Pariwar as a ‘caste rally’, saying that it is an attempt to unite a particular caste through this rally
“The Mahagathbandhan is a kind of caste rally. Attempts are being made to unite a particular caste through this rally,” NCP leader Tariq Anwar told ANI.
“It is not even sure for how long the people sharing the dais would be together in the coming future as everyone has their own selfish motives and interests,” he added.
Anwar stressed that Bihar needs to move beyond caste and religious politics if it wants to make progress.
Leaders of the Janata Dal (United), the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress Party – Nitish Kumar, Lalu Yadav and Sonia Gandhi – will address the rally in Patna.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who heads the Janata Pariwar, has said that he will not attend a rally, and will be represented by his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav.
