Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 Highlights: Tejashwi Yadav says will scrap Waqf Act if elected Bihar CM

Janshakti Janta Dal Chief Tej Pratap Yadav says, “… A cricket stadium will also be built in Mahua, and I will make sure an India vs Pakistan match is played. I have no competition in Mahua… JP Lohia, Karpuri Thakur, and Lalu Prasad Yadav, among other senior leaders, are ‘jannayak’. Tejashwi cannot be a jannayak because he has reached here because of my father… I am no longer in the lantern (RJD)… I am not greedy for any post. If I am offered anything in the RJD, I will reject it. I will never form an alliance with anyone…”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the land of Munger has a historic connection with Lord Ram.

“We have also decided to link Munger with the Ram Circuit… For 500 years, Ram Lalla resided in a tent in Ayodhya. Congress, SP, BSP, Mamata Banerjee, and Lalu Yadav have all opposed the building of the temple,” he said.

Addressing a gathering in Bihar’s Munger, he said that Kastaharni Ghat and Mata Sita Charan Temple will also be developed, and near Khagaria, where Yatra (Rath Yatra initiated by BJP in 1990 for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya) was halted in Samastipur, the BJP will establish a temple of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita

On RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s X post regarding special trains for Chhath festival, BJP National Spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan says, “Lalu Yadav, please show some sense of responsibility instead of just joking around. Social media alone is not enough. People who see your tweets have fact-checked them…”

In Bihar’s Munger, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “For 70 years no one had the courage to touch Article 370, but in 2019, Modi Ji abruptly ended it and made Kashmir an integral part of India”.

Addressing reporters in East Champaran, Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor said, “Bihar now has an option. You don’t need to vote Modi-Nitish out of fear of Lalu Yadav. You don’t need to be ‘kerosene oil’ for Lalu out of fear of Modi. Parties try to show fear of the BJP to gain votes, but I want to tell you, don’t be scared of the BJP. If you are Muslim, fear Allah and choose the better option that you now have.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah says, “Modi Ji has worked to secure India. Modi Ji has worked to make India prosperous. But recently, Lalu and Rahul Baba came here with their so-called Save the Infiltrators campaign….”

Addressing a public meeting in Gogari, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav says, “This Rs. 10,000 is just a loan. Tell me, mothers and sisters, what kind of business can one really start with just Rs. 10,000? What profitable trade will that amount begin?… But when Tejashwi comes to power, he will introduce the Maa-Behen Maan Yojana, it won’t give loans, it will provide real financial help to fight inflation…”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah says, “This opposition alliance has only two identities: corruption and nepotism. Nitish Babu wants to advance Bihar’s sons and daughters, while Lalu Ji wants to make his son the Chief Minister, and Sonia Ji wants to make her son the Prime Minister. Can someone who worries only about their own child really care for the youth of Bihar? Only Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar can care for Bihar’s sons and daughters….”

Addressing a public gathering in Bihar’s Khagaria, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “The Chhath festivities have commenced today. I extend my wishes to all the people of Bihar. I pray to Chhathi Maiya to keep our Bihar free of ‘Jungle Raj’, law and order remains strong, our daughters are safe in the state and that Bihar becomes a developed state.’ “

Union Minister Nityanand Rai says, “How can a corrupt like Tejashwi Yadav, who is immersed in corruption, eradicate corruption from Bihar? The corruption charges against Tejashwi have already been proven…”

On RJD’s poster describing Tejashwi Yadav as Bihar Ka Nayak, BJP State President Dilip Kumar Jaiswal says, “When these people prepared the voter list and conducted travel arrangements across Bihar through SIR, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, these people, in exchange for vote theft, stole the title of ‘Jan Nayak’, which belongs to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur and wrongly attached it to Rahul Gandhi…”

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Mahagathbandhan Chief Minister candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his visit to Bihar, claiming that every single sentence and word of the latter’s speech was “negative” and “defamatory” for the state.

“Yesterday, the Prime Minister came here. Every single sentence and word of his speech was negative and defamatory for Bihar. He didn’t say anything positive. We would like to ask the Prime Minister, you have been the Prime Minister for the last 11 years, but what have you given to Bihar?” Yadav said.

“You set up factories in Gujarat, but you want victory in Bihar, it’s not going to happen. Bihar is bigger than Gujarat in every aspect. Every tenth person in the country is from Bihar… The Prime Minister has only worked to deceive Bihar. Whatever he has given to Gujarat, he hasn’t given even 1% of that to Bihar… The people of Bihar are demanding accountability for everything, and the Prime Minister has no answers,” he added.

Talking to reporters in Bihar, Dy CM Samrat Choudhary said, “Lalu Prasad is Gabbar Singh of Bihar. He has only looted the people of Bihar. He ate the food of animals, took land for jobs… The youth of Bihar want to ask Tejashwi Yadav to tell how one can become a millionaire at the age of 1.5 years.”

On RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s statement, Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary says, “They (RJD) also had a 15-year term, they reduced the 3.5-4 per cent growth rate to 2.5% and Nitish Kumar took the 2.5% growth rate to 10.4%… Gujarat is already developed, and Bihar is among the developing states. We are all making efforts…”

BJP Candidate Pratima Kushwaha said that the The party (RJD) she came from is no longer the same.

“No one there is respected as a strong worker. Only RJD leader Lakshmi Narayan’s influence has grown, and some outsiders have joined the party. Because of this, both the party and our base have weakened. All the committed workers are ready to give a strong response in the elections. When the elections come, it will show who stands firm. We have worked to provide jobs, improve welfare schemes, and educate the people of Bihar so that everyone can understand and support us…” she added.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday criticised the Centre for not operating sufficient Bihar-bound trains during the Chhath Puja, saying passengers were “forced to travel in inhumane conditions.”

Sharing a video on social media, Lalu highlighted overcrowded trains as evidence of the hardship faced by festival-goers returning to their native places.

In a post on X, he wrote, “The uncrowned king of lies had promised that out of 13,198 trains in the country, 12,000 would run for Bihar during Chhath. This, too, proved to be a blatant lie. My fellow Biharis are forced to travel in trains in inhumane conditions.”

LJP chief Chirag Paswan has accused the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of failing to provide meaningful political representation to Muslims in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections. His comments come after the Mahagathbandhan announced RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate and VIP chief Mukesh Sahani as the Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate.

In a post on X, Paswan recalled the 2005 Bihar assembly elections, stating that his father and LJP founder, the late Ram Vilas Paswan, “sacrificed even his own party to make a Muslim Chief Minister,” but RJD did not support the move.

Police in Bihar have issued a warning against sharing songs with provocative caste-related messages on social media, saying strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace or violate the state’s poll-time ‘model code of conduct,’ DGP Vinay Kumar told news agency PTI.

“No misuse of social media platforms will be tolerated,” he added.

The caution comes amid reports of supporters from various political parties posting songs and short videos to spread caste-based messages, an officer said.

DGP Kumar clarified, “Police will take strict action against those posting objectionable or double-meaning songs with provocative caste overtones, including Bhojpuri tracks, on social media. Such acts are seen as attempts to disturb peace and breach the model code of conduct in poll-bound Bihar.”

Ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, the Election Commission (EC) on Friday issued a strong advisory to political parties, directing them to remove AI-generated misinformation within three hours of it being reported. The EC cautioned that the misuse of Artificial Intelligence in political campaigns could seriously harm the fairness of elections, as AI-generated content can easily appear authentic and mislead voters.

Referring to its earlier guidelines and the Information Technology Rules, the Election Commission (EC) reiterated that any AI-generated or digitally altered image, audio, or video used in election campaigns must carry a clear and visible label such as “AI-generated,” “digitally enhanced,” or “synthetic content.”

The label should cover at least 10% of the visible display area or, in the case of audio, the first 10% of its duration. For video content, the label must appear at the top of the screen. The EC also directed that each such piece of content must clearly mention the name of the person or organization responsible for creating it, either in the metadata or accompanying caption.

“No content shall be published or forwarded which is unlawful and misrepresents the identity, appearance, or voice of any person without his consent in a manner reasonably likely to mislead or deceive the electorate,” it said.

BJP president JP Nadda on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Opposition’s INDIA bloc, accusing it of seeking to form the next government in Bihar “with the help of infiltrators’ votes”.

Speaking at a gathering of intellectuals in Vaishali district, Nadda alleged that the Opposition’s resistance to the ongoing revision of electoral rolls revealed its “true intentions”.

“The Opposition had objected to the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar because they want to form a government on the basis of votes of infiltrators,” he said. “The NDA-led government will never allow that to happen. They now stand completely exposed as they have no evidence to back their earlier claims of ‘vote chori’,” he added, referring to the Election Commission’s recent demand for affidavits to support such allegations.

Asserting that Bihar is still a “poor” state despite the 20 years of rule by the JD(U)-led NDA, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday claimed that CM Nitish Kumar will not be made the chief minister if the ruling alliance is again voted to power.

Yadav also alleged that Kumar has been hijacked by the BJP, and two people from Gujarat — ostensibly referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah — are “controlling” Bihar.

Yadav, the chief ministerial candidate of the INDIA bloc, accused the Centre of shielding corrupt leaders and criminals in the state.

Addressing a rally at Simri Bakhtiyarpur in Saharsa district, Yadav claimed, “Amit Shah has made it clear that elected legislators will decide the CM of Bihar after elections. Nitish Kumar will not be made the CM, if the NDA is voted to power again.” Taking a jibe at Kumar, also the JD(U) supremo, at a poll rally in Darbhanga district’s Keoti, he alleged, “Our ‘chacha’ (Nitish Kumar) is not in control of things. He has been hijacked by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah who are operating in Bihar from outside.”

At the Siwan rally in Bihar, Amit Shah said that not a single infiltrator will be allowed to remain in the state and other parts of country. Taking a shot at the opposition, Shah said that the INDIA bloc in Bihar is completely broken now. “Bihar to celebrate ‘real Diwali’ on November 14, when Lalu’s son will face humiliating defeat in polls,” he added.

BJP National President JP Nadda welcomed on arrival at Bihar BJP office in Patna. The big guns of the party are in the state today to campaign for the upcoming assembly polls. Earlier today, PM Modi and Amit Shah addressed public rallies in different parts of Bihar.

During a rally at Siwan, Shah said, “… For 20 years, A-category history sheeter Shahabuddin, with around 75 cases against him, two jail terms, triple murders, an attack on an SP… he had bathed the sons of a business owner in acid till their skins came off. The brave people of Siwan never surrendered before Shahabuddin… Shahabuddin’s son has been given a ticket by Lalu Prasad Yadav himself from Raghunathpur… Now, under the rule of Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi, even if a 100 Shahabuddin come, no one can do you any harm…”

Speaking at a public meeting in Bihar Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that for two decades, Siwan had suffered under Shahabuddin, a criminal with a long list of serious cases, including multiple murders and violent attacks. He praised the people of Siwan for standing strong against such fear. Shah pointed out that Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party has now given a ticket to Shahabuddin’s son from the Raghunathpur seat. He assured the crowd that under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, law and order are strong, and no criminal, no matter how powerful, can threaten the people anymore.

PM Modi also said that investors “run away” when they hear the names – RJD, Congress. He called NDA a “double engine sarkar”. He asked voters to ensure that RJD does not come into power otherwise development in the state will take a hit. “We have to aim for record-breaking development in Bihar this time. Wherever you go, tell the seniors, PM Modi has wished them a happy Chhath,” PM Modi said while concluding the speech.

PM Modi urged the people of Bihar to remain alert. “You have to remember Congress will put locks on Mahila Rozgaar Yojana,” PM Modi said while speaking at the Begusarai rally. He also highlighted how changes in GST has positively impacted the people of Bihar.

PM Modi went on to say that ‘Jungle raj’ leaders only cared for their families, destroyed lives of Bihar’s youth. He also said that RJD is responsible for migration from Bihar, but it is NDA’s priority development aspect. “RJD sells tickets first, then indulges in corrupt practices; Congress led by country’s most corrupt family,” the PM alleged . He added that Begusarai will get a new petrochemical plant and will become a textile hub.
