In a tragic turn of events, a school in Bihar’s capital city Patna was set on fire on Friday morning after a student’s dead body was found inside a tank on the school premises, police said.

The incident took place in the Ramjichak area under Digha police jurisdiction, where enraged locals took to the streets, blocking roads and setting fire to the school.

According to police, the deceased boy, about three years old, went to school for extra lessons after his regular classes. When he didn’t come home in the evening, his family began to search for him. They found his body in a tank on the school grounds at 3 am this morning, reported ANI.

Angry locals then blocked road, and the school was set ablaze. Meanwhile, firefighters managed to put out the fire, and senior police officers arrived on the spot to investigate.

Patna Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash, said, “We were informed late at night by the parents after which our team reached the spot and started collecting evidence. In the CCTV, we saw that the child was entering the school but at no point, he can be seen leaving the school premises… We will investigate it as a murder case as they were hiding the body and it shows criminal intent.”

Three persons have been detained in connection with the case, Prakash said, adding the probe in the case is underway.
