As Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resumed his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, posters depicting Gandhi as Lord Krishna were pasted in various districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday in anticipation of the leader’s arrival.

The posters, put up by Congress workers, depict Gandhi as Lord Krishna riding on a chariot, with Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai portrayed as Arjun were displayed on Mall Road, near the Cantonment, and the Ghantaghar area.

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) member Sandeep Shukla is credited with putting up the posters, and Shukla, whose photograph is also featured at the bottom of the posters, could not be reached for comment.

On the 39th day of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resumed the journey on Wednesday from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao heading towards Kanpur.

Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh announced on Wednesday that the party’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra would be paused between February 26 to March 1 due to election-related meetings in Delhi.

“There will be a break from February 26 to March 1 as there are many important meetings regarding elections in Delhi, and it is necessary for Rahul Gandhi to be present there,” stated Jairam Ramesh during an interview with ANI in Lucknow.

He further mentioned that the yatra will resume on March 2, with Rahul Gandhi scheduled to visit Cambridge University in the United Kingdom on February 27-28 to deliver two lectures. On March 5, Rahul Gandhi plans to visit the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, according to the Congress leader.

Jairam Ramesh took a jab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘misleading’ the country with the concept of ‘Amrit Kaal’ and highlighted issues such as unemployment, questioning the effectiveness of Modi’s guarantees.

According to party sources, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is expected to join the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad on February 24.

However, the presence of potential ally and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav is uncertain, as the Congress and the SP are yet to agree on seat-sharing, with the Congress insisting on two seats that the Samajwadi Party is keen on contesting.
