As the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra came to an end on Sunday after a 63-day journey, with the Opposition showcasing their strength at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
While addressing the rally at Shivaji Park following the conclusion of his Yatra, Gandhi asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wouldn’t be able to win the Lok Sabha elections without the support of “EVMs, ED, CBI, and Income Tax”.
“Our fight against Modi is not on a personal level. Modi is a ‘mask’ who works for a ‘shakti’ (power). He is a shallow man who doesn’t have a 56-inch chest,” Gandhi said, PTI reported.
He further alleged that PM Modi had a “monopoly over corruption”.”Do you think the Shiv Sena and NCP people split and joined the ruling alliance just like that,” he questioned.
While the Eknath Shinde switchover led to a vertical split in the Shiv Sena in 2022 where Shinde aligned with the BJP and assumed the position of Maharashtra chief minister, Ajit Pawar triggered a similar upheaval in the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 2023.
Former Congress president also recounted an incident where a Maharashtra leader cried in front of his mother Sonia Gandhi, expressing shame for not being able to “fight this power anymore and didn’t want to go to jail”.
He claimed PM Modi can’t win elections “without EVMs (electronic voting machines)”.“We asked the Election Commission of India to count the VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) also. But our demand hasn’t been accepted,” he stated.
The Congress MP from Wayanad added that Mumbai’s Dharavi has the chance to be like the city of Shenzhen in China, known for manufacturing. But he said the government is stopping this from happening, especially with the plan to redevelop the slum sprawl.

Gandhi didn’t just stop there. He took it further to X, continuing his criticism towards PM Modi, stating that the former wears a mask of negative energy, which has enslaved the institutions of India, as well as the farmers, labourers, youth, women, the poor, and small-scale industries.
“Narendra Modi wears a mask of negative energy. This is the same energy that has enslaved the institutions of India, the same power that wants to squeeze India’s farmers, laborers, youth, women, the poor, and small-scale industries and give everything to its few billionaire friends. It is the same energy that drives the monopoly of corruption in the country today,” Rahul wrote in a post on X.
Referring to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress MP pointed out that it is the collective responsibility of all to provide an appropriate response to this authority.”Now is the time to give a fitting reply to this power, and it is your, our, and everyone’s responsibility,” Rahul said.
Expressing optimism that love will triumph over hate in a nation built on love, Rahul concluded “Once again, in this country of love, hate will lose, INDIA will win.”
Notably demonstrating their unity, leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) gathered in Mumbai for a massive rally preceding the Lok Sabha elections, set to commence in seven phases starting April 19.
