Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday took a direct swipe at BJP stating that even though the saffron party calls India a ‘Hindu nation’, 74 per cent of the country’s population and the poor in the general category are not getting anything.
During a public gathering in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district as part of his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ Gandhi remarked, “Hindu Rashtra”, but 74 per cent of the population and the poor from the general country have been getting nothing. They are only for beating “thali” (steel plate), ringing “ghanta” (bell), showing mobile phones and dying in hunger, he further claimed to slam the BJP-led centre.
He went on to criticise the absence of representation from the poor at the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, stating: “Did you see a poor man at the inauguration of Ram Mandir? I saw Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Adani, Ambani–all these big businessmen. I did not see a single poor man, did not see a farmer, did not see a labourer, did not see an unemployed person,” he said, according to ANI.
The Congress leader alleged that people are grappling with unemployment and feeling the impact of rising inflation, all while Adani and Ambani are profiting from selling to the Chinese, labelling it as economic injustice.

“You will ask me why my speech is not shown in the media. In the media, Modi ji, Ambani ji, Adani ji and Ramdev Baba will be seen for 24 hours. Rahul Gandhi will not be seen because he talks about the issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is scheduled to enter Uttar Pradesh on February 16. Notably, he has decided to shorten the duration of the yatra in Uttar Pradesh due to the state board examinations for Classes 10 and 12.
“Setting an example of sensitivity, Rahul Gandhi ji has given public interest a priority on many occasions. Keeping in mind the UP Board examinations starting from February 22, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will remain in Uttar Pradesh from February 16 to February 21,” stated Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi, as PTI reported.

On February 19, Gandhi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Gauriganj in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. The yatra will move on to Rae Bareli the next day, heading towards Lucknow, where participants, including Gandhi, may stay overnight, he added.
