Around 20 devotees queuing up for darshan at the revered Hasanamba Temple in Hassan suffered electric shock upon contact with a metal barricade, triggering panic and a subsequent stampede. The incident took place on Friday around 1 PM, leading to injuries and chaos as devotees attempted to flee the area.

The cause of the electric shock was attributed to a snapped lighting wire that came into contact with the metal barricade. The injured were transported to the district hospital, with one individual was reported to be in serious condition. Hospital authorities assured that all others were out of danger, ANI reported.

Devotees pointed fingers at what they perceived as negligence on the part of the district administration, holding them responsible for the incident.

The incident temporarily disrupted the annual Hasanamba Jatra Mahotsava, which commenced on November 2 and is scheduled to continue till November 14. Thousands of devotees, hailing from various parts of the state, converge at the temple daily to partake in the revered darshan ritual.
