Heavy rain pounded Bengaluru on Monday, leading to extensive waterlogging and traffic disruptions throughout the city. Several areas, including Malleswaram, Shantinagar, Mysore Bank, and Town Hall, encountered heavy downpours, resulting in knee-deep waterlogging in certain underpasses.
Videos shared on social media by commuters showed flooded roads and sluggish traffic. The Bengaluru Traffic Police shared a video depicting vehicles cautiously navigating through waterlogged streets, urging commuters to explore alternate routes, particularly at Hebbala Circle towards the BEL Kengeri bus stop.

Though there was a brief respite from the rain in the evening, downpours resumed during the night, causing further problems, especially at the Srirampur and Lingarajapuram underpasses.
In response to these challenging conditions, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar made an unannounced visit to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) head office’s war room at Hudson Circle at midnight. He assessed the city’s disaster and relief efforts in light of the heavy rains.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a generally cloudy sky with occasional rain or thundershowers until November 8.
One commuter, Sandhya Chandrasekaran, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “I was looking forward to going to the office, but it turns out my route (Hennur-Bagalur) was drenched throughout the night with heavy rain, and there’s waterlogging. #drivesafe, y’all. It’s a mess out there.”
Another X user adopted a playful tone, addressing the rain as if it were an employee working overtime, saying, “Hello rain, stop pouring now. Even we humans don’t want to work beyond 8 hours. 3-11.45 pm is total unwarranted extra work; we don’t want you taking comp offs and causing drought elsewhere. Stop now, go where farmers are waiting when they want you there.”
Several videos and images of traffic jams and infrastructure problems resulting from the heavy rain were shared on social media on Monday.
