Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Zeeshan Siddique, and son of late politician Baba Siddique, has received a chilling death threat through email from D-Company, news agency ANI reported, quoting police officials. According to the email that police have accessed, the sender warned Zeeshan that he would be killed the same way as his father and demanded protection money of Rs 10 crore.

The threat follows a series of recent high-profile threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, including to actor Salman Khan and television actor Abhinav Shukla.

The sender also warned Zeeshan that he would receive such emails every six hours.

Zeeshan, as per a report by HT, received the first email two days ago, where the sender demanded the protection money of Rs 10 crore. “I ignored it then, but have been receiving reminders since then, including today. Finally, I had to complain to the police about it,” he told HT.

Zeeshan Siddique death threat: What did the email say?

The email, according to HT, read: “It was sad that after Baba Siddique’s encounter news, a fake news about Lawrence Bishnoi being behind it was planted. It was done by someone else, but that is in the past. Now, I want Rs 10 crore from your family for protection, and you have two days’ time.”

“Please don’t involve the police. This incident could happen to you, so be careful. Please let me know in case any clarification is required. Take it seriously. I will send you the location and time. Please confirm your email, D-Company,” it added.

D-Company is the underworld crime syndicate founded and led by fugitive Indian gangster and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. In 2011, Dawood and his network ranked third on the FBI’s list of “The World’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives”. The syndicate has been officially designated as a global terrorist organisation.

“Baba Siddique’s son and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique received a death threat via email. The email said that he would be killed the same way as his father. A demand of Rs 10 crores was made. The sender further said that he would send such emails every six hours,” ANI reported, quoting Mumbai Police.

“I got a threat via mail from D company, as mentioned at the end of the mail, they demanded a ransom of Rs 10 crore. The police have taken the details and recorded the statement. Our family is disturbed because of this,” ANI quoted NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique as saying.

Police have been investigating the matter.

Baba Siddique’s death

Senior NCP leader Baba Siddique was assassinated on October 12, 2024, when three men opened fire near Zeeshan’s office in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar. One of the attackers, Shivkumar Gautam, allegedly fired six shots – three of which struck Baba Siddique in the upper body. He succumbed to his injuries within an hour at Lilavati Hospital.

The other two shooters, Dharmaraj Kashyap and Gurmail Singh, were arrested soon after, and their interrogation led to the arrest of 24 more individuals. All 27 accused are currently in judicial custody.

The Mumbai Police later identified Akashdeep Gill as a key player in the Baba Siddique murder, who was arrested in Punjab. He reportedly acted as the logistics coordinator and communicated with key conspirators using a labourer’s mobile hotspot to avoid detection. Police named Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, as the mastermind behind the murder, who did what he did, to assert control over Mumbai’s underworld.
