Ayodhya Ram Mandir Key Features
The Ayodhya Ram Mandir is being built in the traditional Nagar style, and has a length of (east-west) of 380 feet, a width of 250 feet, and a height of 161 feet. The three-storied Mandir will have a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors. Each floor is 20 feet tall.
In the main sanctum sanctorum, there is the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram (the idol of Shri Ram Lalla) and on the first floor, there will be a Shri Ram Darbar. There will be five Mandaps – Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prarthna and Kirtan Mandaps.
The temple will also have golden doors. The first golden door, which is 12 feet in height and eight-feet width, has been installed on the upper floor of the sanctum sactorum. A total of 13 more golden floors will be installed there.
At the four corners of the parkota (rectangular compound wall), there are four Mandirs – dedicated to the Sun God, Goddess Bhagwati, Lord Ganesh and Lord Shiva. In the northern arm is a Mandir of Annapurna and in the southern arm is a Mandir of Lord Hanuman.
Near the Mandir is a historic well (Sita koop), dating back to the ancient era.
Interestingly, no iron has been used anywhere in the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The foundation of the Mandir has been constructed with a 14-meter- thick layer of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), giving it the appearance of artificial rock.
For protection against ground moisture, a 21-foot-high plinth has been constructed using granite.
For people visiting the Ram Mandir, a pilgrims facility centre, with a capacity of 25,000 people is being made, and it will also have a bathing area, among other facilities.
The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, which has been formed to look after the construction and management of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, has also given the details in the run-up to the consecration ceremony.
The rituals have started from January 16 and will continue till January 21.
