In a tragic incident in the early hours of July 9, four people sleeping on a footpath near the Indian Oil petrol pump in front of Shiva Camp, Vasant Vihar, were run over by an Audi car. The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 am.
According to Delhi Police, the information was received via a PCR call, after which officers from the Vasant Vihar police station rushed to the scene. The injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is currently being monitored, and further updates on their health are awaited.
Police have confirmed that the driver of the Audi, Utsav Shekhar (40), a resident of Dwarka, has been arrested and is currently in custody. Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances leading to the crash, including whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or driving at excessive speed.
The victims were identified as Ladhi (40), Bimla (8), Sabami (45), Narayani (35), and Ramchander (45). The injured were taken to the hospital.
