Jairam Ramesh, leader of the Congress party, on Wednesday criticised the central government’s decision to send a multi-party delegation to different capitals across the globe. This action comes as part of Operation Sindoor. He called it a diversion from the issue rather than a genuine diplomatic effort.

Congress calls it a PR exercise
Rameh claimed the decision to brief the global community about the escalating issues was a diversion from the genuine issues, such as domestic concerns and terrorism attacks like Pahalgam. Rames told ANI,“ I feel this is another attempt to divert attention. This is a public relations exercise.”
The Congress spokesperson also raised a question about why PM Modi has not called a special session of parliament to address the issue. He said, “Since 22nd April, Congress and other opposition parties have been demanding an all-party meeting. Two meetings were held, but the PM was not present. Later, LoP Rahul Gandhi ji and Kharge ji wrote to the PM to call a special session of Parliament to discuss political issues arising out of this (Pahalgam attack).”
Other important issues
He also flagged a threat about Pakistan’s continuous support of cross-border terrorism and its strategic ties with China. He attributed these matters as serious ,which should be addressed and not bypassed due to external delegations.
He further said that announcements such as caste census and foreign briefing is a way to skip the important issue. He said,”We have also not discussed the China issue. In the middle of this, to divert attention, they (Central govt) announced caste census. “
