Amid days of speculations that former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress veteran Kamal Nath may switch to the BJP, he said that the people of the state are excited to welcome Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Taking to X, Kamal Nath on Friday wrote, “People of Madhya Pradesh and the State Congress workers are excited to welcome Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra…I urge the people and workers to join the yatra in large numbers…”

“Our leader Rahul Gandhi has taken to the streets across the country and announced a decisive fight against injustice, oppression and exploitation,” he added.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s outreach yatra, which is currently passing through Uttar Pradesh, is expected to reach Madhya Pradesh on March 2.

Kamal Nath’s statement comes amid buzz that he could switch over to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The speculations gathered pace when Kamal Nath visited Delhi last week and his son, Nakul Nath had purportedly removed ‘Congress’ from his social media bio.

Kamal Nath’s switchover speculations, if proven true, would deliver a major blow to the Congress ahead of the national elections. The grand old party is already reeling from a string of high-profile exits, the latest being Lal Bahadur Shastri’s grandson, Vibhakar Shastri, who joined the BJP last week.
