Anil Vij Ambala Cantt Chunav Result 2024: As the counting of votes concluded in Haryana, BJP’s senior leader and bigwig regained his ground, after a slight setback, and won the Ambala Cantt Assembly seat by a margin of 7,277 votes and defeated Independent candidate Chitra Sarwara in his bastion. Vij has won on this seat for the seventh time.

Vij was up against Independent rebel Chitra Sarwara and Congress’ Parvinder Pal Pari in the assembly elections. He received 59,858 votes, while Chitra Sarwara received 52,581. Sarwara gave a tough fight to Vij in his stronghold and birthplace. Meanwhile, Pari received 14,469 votes, according to the Election Commission (EC) data.

Earlier in the morning, initial trends showed the six-time legislator in red and was trailing as Sarwara was leading by a margin of over 1,000 votes. However, he told the media that he was confident that he “would sail through easily to victory”.

Later, Vij has gained momentum and emerged victorious in the Ambala Cantt Assembly constituency in Haryana.

Anil Vij has been a prominent figure in Haryana politics for decades. He has served as a cabinet minister in the state government multiple times, handling key portfolios like health and medical education.

He has since been elected six times from the same constituency, solidifying his position as a strong BJP leader in Haryana. Contesting for the seventh time from the constituency, Anil Vij said that the BJP will return to govern Haryana with a full majority.
