Actor Allu Arjun was released from Chanchalguda prison on Saturday morning after spending a night in custody, following his arrest in connection with the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at the premiere of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, in Hyderabad.

Arjun had been granted bail by the Telangana High Court on Friday, but was unable to leave the prison until the bail order reached the authorities late that night.

His counsel, Ashok Reddy, confirmed the release, stating, “He has been released.”

Upon his return home, the 42-year-old actor expressed his gratitude to fans and the public for their support. He reiterated his respect for the law and conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased woman. “It’s very unfortunate,” Arjun said, adding, “I will cooperate with them and do the needful.”

“When the law is taking its course, I should not deal with the case, so I should not talk about it. From a legal standpoint, I would not like to talk about it,” he told reporters, as PTI reported.

The stampede took place on December 4 during the Pushpa 2 premiere at the Sandhya Theatre, when thousands of fans jostled for a glimpse of the actor. The incident resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and left her eight-year-old son hospitalised.

Following the incident the police registered a case against Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management, based on a complaint from the deceased’s family.

Arjun, who was arrested from his residence on Friday, had been remanded to judicial custody but was granted interim bail by the High Court. Despite the bail order, he remained in prison overnight due to delays in processing the documents. His legal team, led by Reddy, expressed frustration over the authorities’ failure to release him promptly, labeling the detention as “illegal.”

After his release, Arjun briefly visited his family production house, Geetha Arts, before heading home, where he was warmly welcomed by his family. Police had increased security outside his residence in anticipation of a large crowd of fans.

Arjun has pledged to support the family of the deceased and reiterated his commitment to abiding by the law throughout the ongoing legal process.
