Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday dropped hints that seat-sharing talks with the Congress has been finalised.
“All is well that ends well… Yes, there will be an alliance. There is no conflict. Everything will be out and clear soon,” Yadav said.
On a question over how many seats the Samajwadi Party wants to contest in the Lok Sabha elections, Yadav said, “As many as we can contest. The maximum.”
On Monday, the Samajwadi Party said that it has given a “final offer” of 17 seats to the Congress, adding that party chief Akhilesh Yadav will only join the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Raebareli only if it was accepted.
Samajwadi Party’s chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary, however, refused to share details of the seats that are being offered to the Congress.
The Samajwadi Party, which is part of the INDIA bloc, had earlier offered 11 seats to the Congress, while the state unit had asked for more.
The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled in April-May this year.
The Akhilesh Yadav-led party had announced the names of 11 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls on Monday, and on January 30, the party had announced names of 16 candidates.
