Power outage has been a constant trouble in the region due to showers that have led to widespread loss of life and property in the union territory. “The phone and internet services, including mobile internet, fibre and landline internet, have been restored,” officials told PTI.

Addressing the disaster, J&K CM Omar Abdullah questioned the safety measures despite weather warnings. “If we already knew about the weather, couldn’t we do something to ensure that those innocent lives were saved. Why were they on the track? Why weren’t they taken to a safe place?” he asked.

PM Modi dials Abdullah
