Following India’s attack on terror in Pakistan, Operation Sindoor, the commercial airspace has been heavily impacted. Airports shut and flights diverted, airlines like Air India, Indigo and SpiceJet have issued their respective travel advisories. As the north India suspends flight operations, airlines have also streamlined the refund and rescheduling portal for passengers. Indigo cancels flights

Indigo has cancelled 165 flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Amritsar, Dharamshala, Bikaner and Jodhpur in its recent travel advisory. In most recent updates, Indigo has included Gwalior and Kishangarh to the list. The flights have been cancelled till May 10 for the coming

Chandigarh Airport Closed

“Due to changing airspace conditions in the region, all flights to and from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, are suspended until further notice.” was shared by Chandigarh International Airport on X. They advised that passengers contact their respective airlines for further assistance.

Air India cancels flights for 3 days

Adding to the list, Air India cancelled its flights to and from Bhuj and Rajkot till 12 noon today, May 7. They await updates from the Airport Authorities of India. Two international flights en route to Amritsar are being diverted to Delhi. In a recent update, the flights have been cancelled till 5:29 IST May 10. For three days disruptions will prevail on flights between Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot.

Delhi Airport issues advisory

While not specifying which flights, the Delhi Airport shared a travel advisory for passengers. Due to the rising Indo-Pak “changing airspace conditions” after Operation Sindoor, they revealed that some flights had been impacted. Spicejet flights have been grounded that were supposed to depart for Haj. As per sources at the Delhi Airport, the crowd is controlled and there are no major flight delays.

Amritsar airport shuts down

Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar has been closed until further notice. ADCP-2 Sirivennela, IPS, stated that they received instructions to cancel all flights and close the airport until further orders are given.

Qatar Airways suspends flights

“Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended flights to Pakistan due to Pakistani airspace closure. The airline is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to prioritise the safety of its passengers and crew.” was the statement issued on the official X account of the airlines.

No flights to and from Kandla

SpiceJet airlines announced in the most recent update that Kandla airport remains shut until further notice. Following which no air traffic will be operated to and from the airport. Hours before Operation Sindoor, they also revealed that the Mumbai runway will also remain closed on May 8.

Akasa joins the list

There are currently no major airlines flying to and from Srinagar, Akasa Airlines announced that due to the airport closure in Srinagar, the sector will not be operational,

International airlines affected

Korean Air avoid Pakistan airspace

Korean Air has been avoiding Pakistan airspace for its flight operating between South Korea’s Incheon and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, following the spike in tension between India and Pakistan, Yonhap News Agency reported

EVA Air diverts flights

Taiwan’s EVA Air said on Wednesday that it will adjust its flights to and from Europe to avoid airspace affected by fighting between India and Pakistan for safety reasons. One flight from Vienna will be diverted back to that city, while a flight from Taipei to Milan will be diverted to Vienna for refueling before continuing on to its destination, the airline said in a statement. 

Air-France, Lufthansa re-routes

A number of global carriers including Air France and Lufthansa have been re-routing flights to avoid flying over Pakistan as fighting between the two nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours escalates. Additionally, Thai Airlines is also avoiding the airstrip as Pakistan orders closure.

Vietjet to remain unaffected?

Vietnam’s budget friendly airline Vietjet has altered it’s travel plans. As per a company spokesperson, tensions between India and Pakistan were affecting its flying plans. The company is adjusting the plans however they remain unaffected as per a Reuters report.
