Chinese foreign ministry on Monday, August 18, said that China will continue to communicate with India with “positive attitude”.
“China is ready to continue communication with India on issues with positive attitude,” Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement, reported news agency Reuters.
When asked about China’s expectation regarding Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to India and the 24th Round of Talks Between the Special Representatives of China and India on the Boundary Question, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded on Monday.
She said that China is willing to take the opportunity of Wang’s visit to India to work together with the Indian side.
Both sides aim to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, and enhance political mutual trust.
China also seeks to strengthen practical cooperation, properly manage differences, and promote the sustained, healthy, and stable development of China-India relations.
The remarks come ahead of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s two-day state visit to India on August 18 where he is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart EAM S Jaishankar in New Delhi.
Wang Yi’s schedule in India
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Wang Yi is expected to land in Delhi around 4:15 pm on Monday, August 18. Around 6 pm, the same day, he will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House.
On August 19, the “24th Meeting between the Special Representatives on India-China Boundary Question” will be held at 11 am. Wang and NSA Ajit Doval, who are the designated special representatives for the talks, are set to lead the dialogue.
Meeting with PM Modi
Later in the day on August 19, Wang is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi around 5:30 pm. The meeting comes at a crucial time, just days ahead of Modi’s planned trip to China to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Wang Yi’s visit and the SR-level talks are expected to play a key role in shaping the diplomatic atmosphere before the two leaders meet at the multilateral forum.
