No sooner had the Kabali fever gripped its fans, that BJP MLA Anil Gote suggested Maharashtra government that the actor be bestowed with state’s highest honor, ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’. While proposing this in Lok Sabha, Gote also added that the Assembly should pass a resolution asking the Central govt to consider giving him ‘Bharat Ratna’.

Calling him as the “son of soil”, Gote said that Rajinikanth has carved a place for himself in the film industry which is equivalent to a demi-god. The fact that Kabali was released  in 8,000 screens around the world is proof of his stature in Indian cinema, added Gote.

Kabali, a Rajinikanth starrer collected more than Rs 48 cr, surpassing all records in India to become the highest grossing film. Hints had been dropped liberally by the filmmakers that Kabali would indeed become the No. 1 movie in India at the very start and according to analysts the box office counters are backing these statements with the cash in the tills.
