Actor-politician Vijay’s Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on Sunday took a dig at DMK government over law and order issues, urged the government to conduct a caste survey, called for scrapping the Parandur airport project, and pushed for the timely closure of liquor outlets.

The actor-led party also condemned the BJP and the central government, describing the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, currently under review by a Joint Parliamentary Committee, as an “attack on federalism,” and called for its withdrawal.

The fledgling TVK opposed the ‘One nation, one election’ proposal and said the attempt to implement it went against democracy and condemned the move, PTI reported.

At its inaugural meeting with district office bearers and the executive committee, the party discussed plans to strengthen its organisational structure, enhance public outreach, and passed 26 resolutions.

Supporting calls to abolish the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), TVK urged that education be moved from the concurrent list to the state list in the Constitution.

The party emphasised its core ideology of secularism and social justice, reaffirming its commitment to fostering harmony and unity among the people of Tamil Nadu.
