Following the death of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar on Thursday who was shot during a Facebook Live, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut shared a photo of Mauris Noronha, the alleged shooter, with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and called for his resignation.

In a post on X, Raut said, “Goon rule in Maharashtra! Mauris Noronha, who shot Abhishek Ghosalkar four days ago, was at the bungalow. The Chief Minister met him.”

Raut shared a photo of Mauris Noronha with Eknath Shinde, alleging that they had met at ‘Varsha,’ the official residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister, “four days ago.”

“Mauris Noronha was invited to join the Shinde Sena! Fadnavis is a complete failure as Home Minister! Resign!” he added.

In a separate tweet, Sanjay Raut tagged Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, and Fadnavis, claiming that the “gunda raj” and “mafia raj” in Maharashtra have the “blessings of the Shinde government.”

“I have been repeatedly saying that there is a rule of gangsters in Maharashtra. The Chief Minister and his Balrajes meet gangsters daily. They give entry to the party. The Home Minister has disappeared. The state is in the hands of gangsters. That’s why there is no fear of the law, but the police are left to serve the Shinde gang,” he said.

“The shooting of Abhishek Ghosalkar is shocking. Abhishek is fighting for his life, and Home Minister Fadnavis is walking around discussing Chai Pay! Fadnavis resign!” Raut said.

Ghosalkar, 41, was reportedly shot dead in Borivali in suburban Mumbai on Thursday evening during a social media live, allegedly by 47-year-old Noronha, who later died by suicide.

The incident has triggered strong reactions from opposition leaders in the state.

Congress leader Sachin Sawant said on X, “The death of former corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, son of Vinod Ghosalkar, is shocking. The manner in which he was killed is horrific. Is there law and order in the state? This question is getting bigger.”

“The decline of Maharashtra from all sides is sad. May God give strength to Vinodji and his family to recover from this crisis caused by Abhishek’s passing at a very young age. A touching tribute to Abhishek!” he added.

Notably, this is the second such incident in January. Earlier, BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad allegedly opened fire at Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) faction leader Mahesh Gaikwad at Hill Line Police Station in Ulhasnagar, prompting sharp reactions from opposition leaders. The BJP MLA is currently in judicial custody.
