She emphasised India’s firm commitment to combat terrorism, stating, “I pay my humble tribute to the bravehearts who sacrificed their lives defending our Parliament on this day in 2001. 2001 Parliament Attack
The 2001 Indian Parliament attack took place on 13 December 2001, when five armed assailants stormed the Parliament in New Delhi. The attack led to the deaths of six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel, and a gardener. All five terrorists were killed by security forces.
Indian authorities accused the Pakistan-based terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) of orchestrating the attack. The incident heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to the 2001–2002 India-Pakistan standoff.
