In yet another tragic road accident in Rajasthan, at least 13 people died after an out-of-control dumper rammed into several vehicles on Lohamandi Road, overturning multiple times and crushing three cars in Jaipur’s Harmada area. The deceased include one child, confirmed Kawantia Hospital Superintendent Dr. RS Tanwar.

Several others were injured and rushed to SMS Trauma Center and Kawantia Hospital. Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal said, “Ten casualties have been reported. We are currently collecting details of the injured…”.

Speaking on the incident, BJP State President Madan Rathore says, “So many accidents are happening, one after another, yet our drivers still fail to understand and take precautions…”

“The dumper hit several vehicles in a chain collision near Loha Mandi. Twelve people died in the accident and as many have been injured,” Jaipur District collector Jitendra Soni told PTI.

Some of the people were critically injured and have been referred to the SMS Hospital’s trauma centre. Officials said the dumper was empty and coming from Road No. 14 towards the Loha Mandi petrol pump when it suddenly hit vehicles one after another over a stretch of nearly 300 metres.

Police teams rushed to the site, diverted traffic and initiated efforts to remove the damaged vehicles from the highway. This is the second major road accident in Rajasthan in the past few days. On Sunday evening, at least 15 people died when a tempo traveller rammed into a stationary trailer truck in Phalodi area.

Victim’s families in pain, many remain critical

Rajasthan Minister Sumit Godara called the incident “very unfortunate incident”, adding that they are doing whatever they can do on a humanitarian basis.

“The CM has directed the best treatment for the injured…” he added.

Rajasthan Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, meanwhile, confirmed 13 deaths in the Jaipur accident. “… Thirteen people have died. Out of the 10 injured, six are here (SMS hospital) and two are in the CKS hospital and two are in Kawatiya hospital. The six admitted here (SMS) are critical and the others have minor injuries. A team of the best of our doctors are treating them…” he said.

On the Jaipur incident, Deputy Superintendent, Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Pradeep Sharma said, “A very tragic incident took place today around Harmara. The flow of injured people reaching here is still continuing. Our entire team is currently assessing the situation. All the seriously injured are being admitted…”
