The ODOPs are picked as per the agricultural production, the presence of micro-food processing units, Self-Help Groups/FPOs/Cooperatives/Micro enterprises engaged in the processing of the product, Patel said.
The MoS further stated that the MoFPI is extending the credit-linked subsidy to individuals interested in setting up micro-enterprises for food processing according to the guidelines of the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme.

Moreover, the setting up of common infrastructure projects by FPOs/SHGs/Cooperative/government entities, seed capital to SHG members, marketing and branding projects for ODOP and capacity building through training institutions are also supported as per the PMFME scheme guidelines.
The ODOP programme by the government aims to promote traditional and indigenous industries in various districts of the country. The scheme aims to identify one unique product from each district and provide support for its development, marketing, and promotion. By doing so, the government seeks to enhance the local economy and generate employment opportunities in the chosen districts.
The specific product chosen in each district is typically one that has unique qualities, holds a competitive advantage, and has the potential to be marketed globally. By focusing on one particular product per district, the government intends to allocate resources more effectively and ensure the success and growth of such industries.
