The Sarita Vihar flyover in Delhi is set to undergo repairs starting June 15, the officials announced on Tuesday (June 11). During the two-month repair period, the carriageway from Ashram to Badarpur will be closed in the initial phase, potentially causing traffic disruptions along the entire stretch.
The flyover links southeast Delhi to Faridabad in Haryana and is a part of Mathura Road. The Sarita Vihar flyover will witness half of its carriageway from Ashram to Badarpur closed for traffic from June 15 to August 15. However, the other half will remain open for continuous vehicular movement, officials confirmed.
Delhi authorities warn of traffic congestion
The repair work, which includes replacing expansion joints and bearings, has been approved by the concerned authorities, with necessary no-objection certificates obtained. Delhi Police has also issued the required NOC for the repair project.
Authorities advise commuters, especially those traveling to railway stations, airports, and ISBTs, to plan their journeys considering potential traffic congestion on Mathura Road during the repair period.
Mathura Road has several stretches, including Ashram Chowk, which are generally hit by traffic issues. Earlier in May, similar traffic restrictions were implemented on the Naraina flyover from Naraina to Raja Garden due to repair work.
