The Noida International Airport is going to be India’s largest airport so far. Currently under construction, the airport is scheduled to start operations with commercial flights in April 2025.
Linking the Jewar airport to the Greenfield Expressway is an interchange which is nearing completion, News18 reported. The trials on the interchange using light vehicles are going to commence next week. As per the report, the preparations for the trials are underway.
The officials of the Yamuna Development Authority have said that post the completion of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) work, the final layer of tar has been laid on the interchange. “Only finishing work is ongoing, which will be completed by next week,” they added.
Noida Airport Greenfield Expressway interchange
The interchange, spanning a total length of 750 meters with eight lanes, will act as a vital connector between the airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
As part of the Bharatmala Project, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is developing a 13-kilometer-long, six-lane Greenfield Expressway at an estimated cost of Rs 2,241.4 crore.
While the construction of nearly 1,300 metres of road linking the Yamuna Expressway interchange to the Noida International Airport complex is underway, the trail could meet with certain delays due to incomplete sections. Officials have confirmed that the road is nearing completion. The ballast placement has been finalised, and construction on the remaining sections is advancing swiftly.
The interchange, built near Uttar Pradesh’s Dayanatpur village, will link the expressway to the Noida International Airport. Spanning 22 kilometers along the Haryana border, the expressway includes a 9-kilometer stretch within Jewar. This segment will connect to the airport, traversing land from six villages.
