Union Minister Ajay Tamta has announced that the construction of the 88.4 km six-lane greenfield highway between Gwalior and Agra is anticipated to commence in the current financial year. The project construction work is estimated to cost Rs 4216 core.
Once the project is completed, citizens can reach Agra from Gwalior in just one hour. It will also reduce the distance between the two states from the earlier three hours.
Current status of Gwalior-Agra Greenfield Highway
”Madhya Pradesh has set a new milestone for development, providing enhanced facilities for the public. The project report for the Rs 4,612 crore six-lane greenfield highway, spread over 88.4 kilometers has been completed. Tenders for the same have been provided and the work on this project is likely to begin from this financial year,” Tamta added.
Western Bypass of Gwalior’s Ring Road Approved
The Union Minister also shared that the approval for the western bypass of Gwalior’s ring road has been sanctioned. The western bypass is stretched to 28.8 km long and is projected to be built on a budget of Rs 1,004 crore. The bypass will boost the area’s development, the minister added.
The completion of Gwalior-Jhansi Highway has brought down the travel time between the two cities to one hour from three hours, the minister said.
