Two coaches of an empty local train derailed while entering a car shed near Mumbai Central on Sunday afternoon, causing disruptions on the Western Railway, officials confirmed.
The incident took place around 12.10 pm, but no injuries were reported as the train was not carrying passengers, according to Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway.
The derailment has affected suburban services, with the slow track toward Dadar currently blocked, Abhishek added. Trains on the slow track between Churchgate and Mumbai Central have also been affected, but services are being diverted to the fast line to minimize disruptions.
Efforts are underway to rerail the coaches and restore full services.
