Five years have elapsed since the inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express trains, revolutionizing the travel experience for ordinary Indian passengers. Today, these semi-high speed trains have become the preferred choice for travelers when planning their journeys.

Celebrating these five years of transformation and what is being called a “success story” of Vande Bharat Express trains, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took to X, formerly Twitter to share a video.

Vande Bharat trains were launched on February 15, 2019. 

In the video shared by the Railway Minister, these railway marvels were called “a symbol of growing technology, comfort and safety”. They have transformed railway travel completely and are a Make in India “success story”, it added.

The video showcased distinctive features of these trains that distinguish them from others, including 360-degree rotating designer chairs, automatic doors, CCTV cameras, and more. It also emphasised the government’s commitment with 82 train services running and more in the pipeline, signifying the significance of Vande Bharat Express trains.

Vande Bharat first ‘Kavach’ trial

The Agra railway division accomplished a successful trial on Friday, testing an automatic braking system integrated into a Vande Bharat train. This system is a component of the domestically created anti-collision device known as ‘Kavach’.

According to Agra Railway Division PRO Prashasti Srivastava, as reported by PTI, during the inaugural trial, the train, travelling at 160 kmph, came to a halt automatically 10 meters prior to the red signal without the loco pilot needing to engage the brakes.
