The newly appointed Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh convened a significant review meeting with members of the Railway Board on Tuesday (June 11). According to the press release issued by the Ministry of Railways, the meeting aimed at coordinating efforts towards elevating Indian Railways to global standards.

The release also stated that the Railway Board Members presented an overview of the Railways and briefed the Minister on various ongoing activities across Indian Railways during the meeting.

Minister Singh stressed the significance of collective teamwork in accomplishing the ambitious goals set for Indian Railways. “Our goal is to make Indian Railways a world-class service, accessible and efficient for everyone, especially the underprivileged,” said Singh. 

“Let’s work together to achieve this vision and make significant improvements in our railway services.”

Earlier, BJP leader and three-time former Congress MP Ravneet Singh was sworn in as a Union Cabinet Minister in the Narendra Modi-led NDA government on June 9. Bittu, the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and son of former Punjab minister Tej Parkash Singh, transitioned from the Congress to the BJP before the 2024 elections. 

BJP leader contested from the Ludhiana constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha election but lost to Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring by 20942 votes.

He articulated his commitment to laying the groundwork for the BJP to secure victory in the Punjab Assembly elections in 2027 and expressed his aspiration to serve as the Chief Minister of Punjab if given the opportunity.
