A man who boarded a train along with his family from Patna Junction, took to X, formerly Twitter, to share the plight which marred his journey right at the beginning.

Starting a series of tweets, he wrote, “This is AC-3 at 15658 BRAHMAPUTRA EXP at Patna Junction. My family and I had to fight to get into the train & then to get our confirmed seat. AC-3 has been taken over by general passengers. No one cares for any rule.”

Attached to the tweet is a video showing people crowding the coach. In the video, people could be seen standing in the aisle with the line going beyond the gates of the coach.

The passenger went on to explain that he had booked eight seats for his family but could access only six of those as others from the crowd had taken over their other seats.

“People with general tickets are also in AC-3 & people without tickets are also in AC-3. While talking with some people, I got to know that there are exams going,” the post read.

Cry for help

The passenger, who goes by the name Vijay Kumar on X, requested help from the Indian Railways, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Furthering the family’s ordeal, the crowd blocked the family’s path to such an extent that the members could not even access the toilets.

“Female members of my family want to go to the bathroom but it is blocked by general passengers. They are everywhere they have been wanting to go for some time now but can’t,” Kumar wrote.

Throughout the journey, Kumar kept sharing updates on the crowd. The posts by him showed very little difference in the situation as stations passed. To make the matter worse, the train kept running late.

Towards the end of his tweets, he showed the situation improving, saying the TTE tried his best to alleviate the situation. “Other than him I didn’t see anyone doing anything,” Kumar wrote.

“Had a peaceful dinner with family. Have one more train in the upcoming days sacred for that now. I’m thinking about cancelling the ticket and going by bus,” one of the final tweets by Kumar read.

Calling the journey his “worst experience”, Kumar said he felt that no help was provided to him even though he asked for it continuously.
