In light of the upcoming Line Block and Power Block scheduled for engineering works at Chennai Beach Yard, the Southern Railway has announced significant alterations to train services. These changes will impact several routes from October 26 to 27, 2024, ensuring the smooth execution of necessary maintenance activities.

Change in Train Origination and Destination

Train No. 08558 (Chennai Egmore – Visakhapatnam Special) will now originate from Dr MGR Chennai Central at 10:45 hrs on October 27, instead of Chennai Egmore. Additionally, Train No. 08557 (Visakhapatnam – Chennai Egmore Special) will terminate at Dr MGR Chennai Central instead of Chennai Egmore, departing Visakhapatnam at 19:00 hrs on October 26.

Diversion of Train Services
Several trains will also be diverted to accommodate the engineering works.

  • Train No. 17644 (Kakinada Port – Chengalpattu Circar Express), scheduled to leave Kakinada at 14:30 hrs on October 26, will divert via Korukkupet, Arakkonam, Melpakkam, and Chengalpattu, skipping stops at Chennai Egmore, Mambalam, and Tambaram. An additional stop will be provided at Perambur at 05:18 (Arr)/05:20 (Dep) for passengers’ convenience.
  • Train No. 17652 (Kacheguda – Chengalpattu Express), departing Kacheguda at 17:00 hrs on October 26, will be redirected via Tiruttani, Melpakkam, and Chengalpattu, bypassing Arakkonam, Perambur, Chennai Egmore, Mambalam, and Tambaram.
  • Train No. 11017 (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Karaikal Express) will also divert via Tiruttani, Melpakkam, and Chengalpattu, skipping Chennai Egmore and Tambaram. An additional stop at Tiruttani at 08:58 (Arr)/09:00 (Dep) will be included.
  • Train No. 02121 (Madurai – Jabalpur Superfast Special), leaving Madurai at 23:35 hrs on October 26, will also be redirected through Chengalpattu and Perambur, skipping Tambaram and Chennai Egmore, with additional stops at Arakkonam and Perambur.
  • Train No. 12651 (Madurai – Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Express) will similarly be diverted and will stop at Perambur.
  • Train No. 09420 (Tiruchchirappalli – Ahmedabad Special), departing on October 27, will also take a new route and stop at Tiruttani.

Rescheduling of Train Services
Two trains will experience a one-hour delay:

  • Train No. 17651 (Chengalpattu – Kacheguda Express) will now leave at 16:35 hrs instead of 15:35 hrs on October 27.
  • Train No. 17643 (Chengalpattu – Kakinada Port Circar Express) will also be delayed by one hour, departing at 17:00 hrs.

Passengers are advised to check their train schedules and plan accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during this period of engineering work.
