Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted the significance of Indian railways in the historical narrative of West Bengal. He also stated that a loss of interest in the contribution towards the development after the independence resulted in a drop of the railway-promoted infrastructure.

Government’s Enhanced Investment in Bengal’s Rail Infrastructure

Addressing a gathering in Krishnanagar after launching various developmental projects, PM Modi emphasized the critical role of railways in bridging the developmental gap. He highlighted his government’s substantial increase in investment towards Bengal’s rail infrastructure. He stated that the government is now spending more than double the of the previous amount which was allocated for development.

Multi-billion Development Projects Unveiled in Krishnanagar

Before addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth Rs 15,000 crore in Krishnanagar city, located in West Bengal’s Nadia District. These projects aim to enhance infrastructure and spur economic growth in the region.

‘Viksit’ West Bengal

PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming West Bengal into a ‘viksit’ (developed) state. Following his speech, he engaged in a roadshow in Krishnanagar to further connect with the people and assess the progress of developmental initiatives.
