The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor is one of the highly anticipated upcoming projects in the country today. The MAHSR project passes through the rapidly developing states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, connecting vital economic centers like Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad.

Today, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) which is overseeing the development of this crucial project shared a video of a tunnel for the bullet train which is flanked by the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The NHSRCL took to X, formerly Twitter, to share the video which was an aerial glimpse of the tunnel and marked the states on either side of it.

Captioning the video, the NHSRCL wrote, “The MAHSR bullet train project tunnels through, connecting Maharashtra and Gujarat. A testament to engineering ingenuity that brings states closer on the route to progress.”

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train progress

Earlier this month, it was reported that the project had seen the completion of 290.64 km of pier foundation, 267.48 km of pier construction, 150.97 km of girder casting, and 119 km of girder launching. However, a timeline for the project could be anticipated.

In November, the NHSRCL reached a significant milestone in viaduct construction, covering 100 kilometers, using the ‘Full Span Launching technique’ (FSLM). This innovative approach employs 40-meter long ‘full span box girders’ and ‘segmental girders’. Notably, this advanced technique is ten times swifter than the traditional span-by-span method commonly seen in metro viaduct construction.
