Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple railway projects across various regions of the country on Monday (January 6). As part of efforts to enhance connectivity, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new Jammu Railway Division. He also inaugurated the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana and laid the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building under the East Coast Railway.

Jammu Railway Division

The newly created Jammu Railway Division spans 742.1 kilometers, covering key sections such as Pathankot–Jammu–Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal–Pathankot, Batala–Pathankot, and Pathankot–Joginder Nagar. 

This development is expected to significantly benefit Jammu and Kashmir and its surrounding regions by fulfilling long-standing demands for improved rail connectivity. The project is poised to boost regional infrastructure, create job opportunities, promote tourism, and support overall socio-economic development.

Charlapalli New Terminal Station

The Charlapalli New Terminal Station, located in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district, has been developed as a modern coaching terminal at a cost of approximately Rs 413 crore. With eco-friendly facilities and enhanced passenger amenities, the station is expected to ease congestion at existing terminals such as Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda.

Rayagada Railway Division Building

Additionally, the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway was laid. This initiative aims to improve connectivity across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and neighboring regions while contributing to socio-economic growth and infrastructure development.
