Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (March 12) unveiled a slew of railway projects in Bihar and flagged off two new Vande Bharat Express trains. The projects worth Rs 85,000 crore mark a significant development for the state’s transportation infrastructure. 

These projects were inaugurated by the PM through a video conference from Ahmedabad. The special event, organized at the Patna Junction railway station, witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including Governor Rajendra V Arlekar, Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav, and BJP MP Ravishankar Prasad. 

Bihar gets new Vande Bharat Express trains

Indian Railways has launched two new Vande Bharat Express trains, which are set to operate on the Patna-Gomti Nagar and Patna-New Jalpaiguri routes. These semi high-speed trains will enhance connectivity across key destinations. 

The Patna-Gomti Nagar route will include halts at Varanasi and Ayodhya Dham, catering to pilgrims and travelers alike. Additionally, a third Vande Bharat Express flagged off during the event will stop at Gaya on its journey from Ranchi to Varanasi.

PM Modi launches multiple railway projects 

In addition to the Vande Bharat Express trains, the PM laid the foundation stone for a washing pit cum coaching complex at Narkatiaganj and inaugurated the New Chiraila Pauthu-New Son Nagar-New DDU section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. 

Other inaugurated facilities include Gati Shakti cargo terminals, Jan Aushadhi drug stores at Patna and Darbhanga, goods sheds, washing pit lines at Arrah and Muzaffarpur, and ‘One Station One Product’ outlets aimed at promoting local artisans and farmers.

The unveiling of projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore in the East Central Zone, covering Bihar, parts of Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
