Indian Railways is set to introduce a new Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) Push-Pull rake over its network soon. This new rake will bring a revolution in Passenger Rolling Stock. The new LHB Push-Pull Train will provide a similar travel experience of Vande Bharat Express trains in non-AC segments. It is being manufactured by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF).

When will the Push-Pull Train roll out?

The new Push-Pull train will be rolled out this month. Speaking to Financialexpress.com, Venkatesan GV, Senior Public Relations Officer (Sr PRO), Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai said, “This new Push-Pull train is likely to be turnout by October-end.” “Vande Sadaran is not official name. Push Pull is official and technical name,” Venkatesan clarified.

Coach Composition and Speed of LHB Push-Pull Train:-

The new LHB Push-Pull Train will have 22 coach formations including 1 SLRD-4 GS-12 SCN -4 GS-1SLRD. The train has a faster acceleration for reduced travel time. It has a maximum permissible speed of 130 kmph. 

Features of new LHB Push-Pull Train:-

The Push Pull Train will have improved interiors and best-in-class passenger amenities, as provided in Vande Bharat trains. The train will have closed vestibules, talk back system, fire alarm system etc.  A look at the detailed feature of new LHB Push-Pull rake – 

  • The train will have aerodynamically designed WAP5 Locomotives on both ends in Push-Pull Configuration (Concentrated Power Train Set).
  • The new rake will have Jerk Free Semi Permanent Couplers.
  • The train will have Control Couplers on End Walls for Push-Pull Operation with Locos at both ends of the train.
  • The new LHB rake will have fully sealed Gangways.
  • The coaches will have a mobile charger with suitable holder and foldable bottle holder.
  • The train will have an aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically designed seat and berth with improved color blending.
  • The train will have an improved cushioned luggage rack.
  • The coaches will have Zero Discharge FRP Modular Toilet.
  • The train will have an aerosol-based Fire Suppression System in toilets and electrical cubicles.
  • There will be a radium illumination flooring strip.
