The railway authorities welcomed special train services connecting Bengaluru with Mangaluru Central in anticipation of high train demand during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections which are scheduled to take place in the second and third phases.
The initiative aims to facilitate seamless transportation for voters from the coastal region, providing them with convenient access to polling stations. By offering this special express train, South Western Railway seeks to ensure that voters can travel efficiently and participate in the democratic process with ease.

The South Western Railway released a press statement informing the departure of Train No. 06553 Bengaluru – Mangaluru Central Special from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal in Bengaluru at 6:00 PM on April 25 (Thursday), reaching Mangaluru Central at 10 AM the following day.
As per the release, Train No. 06554 Mangaluru Central – Bengaluru Special will depart from Mangaluru Central at 12 PM on April 26 (Friday), arriving at Sir. M Visvesvaraya Terminal in Bengaluru at 3 AM the next day.
South Western Railway authorities also launched a special express train from Yesvantpur to Kundapur, in a bid to enhance connectivity between Bengaluru and Udupi. Scheduled to depart from Yesvantpur in Bengaluru at 11:20 PM on April 25, Train No. 06547 is slated to arrive at Kundapur the following day at 10:45 AM.
Conversely, the return journey, Train No. 06548, will set off from Kundapur at 11:20 AM on April 26, reaching Yesvantpur at 9:50 PM on the same day. These special services have been introduced in light of the voting scheduled for 14 out of the 28 Lok Sabha seats on April 26.
