Indian Railways is continuously working to complete the ongoing projects on its network. These include the doubling of rail lines, transforming railway stations, introducing more trains etc. In this context, the double-line work between Tangiriapal and Tomka railway stations in Odisha deserve special mention.
Tangiriapal-Tomka double-line work
The construction of double-line work on the Tangiriapal-Tomka section is a part of the ongoing Jakhapura-Jaroli Double Line project. The project falls under the administrative control of the East Coast Railway’s (ECoR) Khurda Road Division.
Commissioning of Tangiriapal-Tomka double-line work
The national transporter has commissioned the double-line work on the 10.506-km-long rail section. Earlier this week, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, Kolkata, inspected the railway section. During the inspection, all safety aspects were thoroughly examined, and a Speed Trial was also conducted to measure the feasibility of train traffic.
Jakhapura-Jaroli Double Line project
The construction work on the critical Jakhapura-Jaroli Double Line project is proceeding in full swing. More than 99 percent of the construction work has been completed and the remaining will be finished soon. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is prioritizing the development of railway infrastructure in the region, along with various project works.

Odisha’s Jakhapura-Jaroli Double Line project will boost the region’s economy. It will provide hassle-free train operations. It will also enhance the connectivity between Howrah-Chennai & Howrah-Mumbai Main Line through the iron ore belt of the state.
Kothavalasa-Koraput-Kirandul double-line work
The ECoR zone is working tirelessly on the crucial doubling work of Kothavalasa-Koraput-Kirandul (KK) line. The 445.5-Kms-long project was included in FY 2011-12 and the final Sanction was given in the fiscal year 2015-16. Doubling Work in the KK line will boost the economy of the region and will provide hassle free train operations in the crucial Eastern Ghat region.
